Musician Inspiring the Next Generation of Cellist – True Hearts Unite
Twenty-one-year-old British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Discovered aged 17 after winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, now at 21 he’s melting the hearts of many.
His most recent performance was during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s 2018 wedding. Sheku performed to millions around the world, causing the “Sheku effect’’ amongst young people.
Sheku is said to be using his notoriety to change the face of music in schools, he believes “It needs to be taught more… I work with children who wouldn’t normally have access”. There are a lot of talented young people but all they need is opportunity.
Sheku has touched upon a key phrase which we believe strongly in at True Hearts Unite. “When talented young people are met with opportunity” great things happen. Therefore True Hearts Unite partnering with BlackBox, a music hub for musicians is great. Many of their members have escaped knife crime and are now high profile musicians living out their dreams.
True Hearts Unite support YOUNG PEOPLE who are passionate about making a positive change while using their talents, especially during these uncertain times.
